The rivalry between South Australia’s two AFL clubs took another step in 2022 when Adelaide was joined by Port Adelaide for the AFLW competition’s seventh season.

In a sentence: The historic first AFLW Showdown was dominated by Adelaide, which held Port goal-less on the way to a 60-point win in front of a crowd of 20,650.

Adelaide 8.10 (58) def 4.4 (28) at Norwood Oval

Showdown Medal: Niamh Kelly (A)

In a sentence: Port recovered from a scoreless first term to lead by three points at half-time but Adelaide lifted and kicked clear to win by five goals.

In a sentence: The third Showdown was tight but Adelaide’s Eb Marinoff led the way to a 14-point win with 29 disposals and nine tackles.

Adelaide 6.9 (45) lost to Port 7.10 (52) at Norwood Oval

In a sentence: Adelaide started well but did not kick a goal in the second and third quarters as Port took control then held off the Crows’ late charge.
