Former Australian basketballer Jessica Foley was a standout competitor in her first SANFLW season in 2018, winning the Coaches Award playing for Sturt. She was subsequently drafted by the Crows with Pick No.30 in the 2018 draft. Foley had an outstanding debut season, finishing second in the best and fairest. Foley played all nine games, including the winning grand final, after dominating as the lone ruck. She played four more games in 2020 but retired to focus on her career in medicine.
