Biography

AFC Debut Game: Round 1 v GWS Giants, 2017

An army medic, Heather Anderson was the first Northern Territory-based player drafted by the Crows in 2016 ahead of the club’s first season in the AFLW. Originally from the ACT, she had been posted to Darwin the previous year and starred for Waratah.  The courageous defender recovered from a serious shoulder injury to play every game in the 2017 AFLW season, including the winning grand final. Anderson, who wore a conspicuous pink helmet, suffered another dislocated shoulder in the grand final and needed further surgery which ended her AFLW career.

Anderson passed away suddenly in Perth, on November 13 2022. A minute’s silence was observed in her memory before Adelaide’s preliminary final against Brisbane on November 18.
