From Dromana, south of Melbourne, Will Hamill impressed in the TAC Cup with premiership side Dandenong Stingrays and Vic Country in the 2018 season.

The quick defender joined Adelaide as the Club’s third selection in the 2018 national draft at pick 30.

Hamill was late in contemplating an AFL career, after focusing mostly on athletics – he was a national-level long jumper and triple jumper as a junior – until he returned from a year-long family exchange trip in Canada when he was 14.

He spent the first year with the Crows developing his game in the SANFL. He made his AFL debut in 2020 and then played 17 AFL games in 2021 but some head knocks disrupted his career. Hamill was moved to the rookie list after the 2023 season, when he did not break into the AFL side despite some solid SANFL form. He made seven AFL appearances in 2024 for a total of 45 but was delisted at the end of the season. Hamill also played 55 SANFL games for the Crows.
