Wayne Weidemann tried out unsuccessfully with Collingwood in 1988, and moved to SA in 1990 when West Torrens recruited him from Canberra. The rugged midfielder from Fish Creek was offered a spot in Adelaide’s foundation squad, becoming a cult figure among supporters. He was a regular in the team from 1992-1994.
After finishing with Adelaide in 1996 he moved to Tasmania to coach but eventually returned to South Australia and coached West Adelaide from 2006-07.
