Selected by the Crows with pick No. 58 in the 2007 national draft, Tony Armstrong spent four years at West Lakes and played 14 AFL games. His first senior appearance was in the opening round of the 2010 season and he showed some promise as a half-back with nice kicking skills.

Consistency proved an issue and despite playing the last five games of the season he was traded to the Sydney Swans at the end of 2011. Armstrong moved to Collingwood after being delisted by the Swans in 2013 and played six more AFL games in two seasons for a career total of 35 AFL games.
