An under-18 talent from NSW, Tim McIntyre moved to Sturt in the SANFL to increase his chances of reaching the AFL. Adelaide signed the mature-age strong-marking small forward at the end of the 2011 season rookie draft. He was upgraded to the senior list before making his AFL debut in 2012 against Port Adelaide in Showdown XXXIII. McIntyre kicked two goals, including one with his first kick, in a winning game. But he was squeezed out of the side by returning players and it was his only AFL appearance, despite finishing the year as Sturt’s leading goalkicker. McIntyre was delisted at the end of the next season.
