The younger brother of North Melbourne premiership player Corey, Shaun McKernan showed glimpses of his potential during his six-year stint at West Lakes. The athletic tall played just one game in his first two seasons with Adelaide, before a promising 2011 season saw McKernan notch 16 senior appearances and kick 10 goals.
Soft tissue injuries and untimely suspensions meant he failed to cement a regular AFL spot thereafter, and he was delisted by Adelaide in 2014 and eventually joined Essendon.
