A lively forward from Central District recruited through the 1994 pre-season draft, Shane Tongerie started his AFL career in impressive fashion, coming off the bench and kicking three goals against Brisbane in Round Six, 1994. However, he struggled for consistency and quickly fell out of favour with selectors after just four games. Tongerie was a member of the Aboriginal All Stars team which defeated Collingwood in Darwin in 1994.
