A late bloomer at SANFL club South Adelaide, Ryan Fitzgerald was secured by the Sydney Swans with the No 4 pick at the 1998 national draft. Shoulder and knee injuries wrecked the key forward’s time in Sydney, although he kicked five goals on debut in 2000. Adelaide took a punt on the forward during the 2001 trade period but another serious knee injury ended his AFL career after just eight games for the Crows.
Fitzgerald found national fame as a contestant on TV reality show Big Brother in 2004 and the Crows ambassador later became a well known national radio and television personality.
