Rory Atkins won a best and fairest with TAC club Calder Cannons and was a member of the AIS-AFL Academy before he being drafted by Adelaide with pick No. 81 at the 2012 National Draft. The left-foot midfielder spent his first two years developing with Sturt and then Adelaide’s new SANFL side. A knee injury postponed his start in 2015 but he made his AFL debut in the round 16 Showdown win over Port Adelaide, the first of eight appearances for the Crows in his debut season.

A knee injury in 2015 delayed the start to his season, but he went on to play eight AFL games after returning in Showdown 39. The speedster never looked back after his debut, playing in every game through 2016 and 2017, with another 20 appearances in 2018. Atkins booted a career-high 13 goals that season. In 2020 Rory requested a trade to continue his career with another club and was subsequently traded to the Gold Coast Suns.
