From Clare, in South Australia’s mid north, Riley Knight moved to Adelaide as a teenager to play for St Peter’s College and Woodville-West Torrens. He represented South Australia at the Under-18 National Championships, impressing along half-forward.

He was drafted at No. 46 in the 2013 draft, and finished as joint runner-up in Adelaide’s SANFL Best and Fairest in 2014. Knight made his AFL debut in 2015, playing 11 games before an ankle injury in 2016 restricted him to just one senior appearance. He bounced back in 2017 with 19 appearances, including the grand final. He struggled for consistency in the next three seasons and was delisted at the end of the 2020 season.
