Patrick Parnell was Adelaide’s first ever mid-season rookie draftee in 2021.

The small defender had played with the Murray Bushrangers U18s in the NAB League and Albury Tigers in the Ovens and Murray League and was known for his pin-point kicking, decision making and speed.

Parnell made his AFL debut with the Crows in round 12, 2022, against West Coast and stayed in the side for 11 games in his debut season. He was knocked out in his first game (round two) of 2023 and only played four more AFL games that season. But a highlight was being nominated for the AFL Mark of the Year for a spectacular grab against St Kilda in round nine.

Parnell only played one AFL game in 2024 (round five) before a shoulder injury required surgery and ended his season. He was not offered a new contact.
