A competitive small forward, Ned McHenry hailed from the Geelong Falcons, having played junior footy at Barwon Heads.

Adelaide drafted McHenry with pick No. 16 in the 2018 AFL National draft after the AFL Academy player averaged 21 disposals and five clearances across eight games for the Geelong Falcons in the TAC Cup.

McHenry showed promising signs in the SANFL finals in 2019 and made his AFL debut early in the COVID modified 2020 season, in a Showdown. He worked his way into Adelaide’s forward line, playing 21 games in 2021 and 20 in 2022 with a game based on hard running and tackling pressure.

He was often used as a sub in the next two seasons but was not offered another contract at the end of 2024.

McHenry was recognised with the Dr Brian Sando OAM Trophy (in 2021) for professionalism and attention to detail.
