Matthew Shir was a hard-running defender from Benalla picked by the Crows late in the 1999 National Draft. He debuted at the start of 2001 but struggled with injuries and left the Club after playing just11 games. Shir was rookie-listed by Richmond at the end of 2002, did not play a game for the Tigers, and instead continued his career with success at country level at Wodonga.
