Lucas Herbert was a powerfully-built ruck from Mt Gambier who played for Glenelg and North Adelaide before being drafted by the Crows at the end of 1998. He made his AFL debut in the opening round of 1999 making him the 100th player to represent the Crows. He joined the select band of players to kick a goal with his first AFL. Herbert played 14 games in this, his debut season, but was delisted after just one year and returned to play in the SANFL.
