Kyle Hartigan was originally overlooked on the national stage in 2009 and moved to VFL club Werribee in search of senior football opportunities. The key defender developed into one of the league’s best and was taken by Adelaide in 2012 as a ready-made rookie selection. He was in and out of the senior side during his first two seasons before becoming an established defender in 2015.

His off-season work saw him share the Crows Children’s Foundation Community Leadership Award in 2016 with team mate Charlie Cameron. A knee injury interrupted his 2017 campaign, recovering in time to play in the grand final, before managing just 13 games in 2018. Following the 2020 season he  requested a trade to Hawthorn having played a total of  113 games with the Crows.
