Adelaide selected Kieran Strachan at the 2018 rookie draft after scouting the strong-marking ruck/forward at South Bendigo and in the VFL.

He spent most of his seven seasons as the understudy to Reilly O’Brien and was limited to seven AFL games but was an outstanding player in the SANFL for the Crows, winning three Club Champion awards. He was also selected in the SANFL Team of the Year in four consecutive years.

Strachan made his AFL debut against North Melbourne in Round Nine, 2020. He made another two appearances in 2021 – when he won his first State League Club Champion Award – and two in both the 2022 and 2024 seasons. Strachan then suffered back-to-back stress fractures in his foot during the pre-season and he was placed on the AFL inactive list for 2025. However, he returned to play in the SANFL and became the first Crow in SANFL history to play 100 games for the Club.
