A highly-rated junior ruckman from the Geelong Falcons, John Meesen was a taken with pick No. 8 in the 2004 AFL draft. He spent time developing with Norwood in the SANFL and also battled some injury problems. He made his AFL debut late in the 2007 season, later asking to be traded to Melbourne, where he played four games in three seasons before a serious foot injury ended his career.
