Promoted to the senior list in 2006 on the back of some strong SANFL form with Glenelg, John Hinge made his AFL debut early in 2007 against Collingwood. But the half-back strained a hamstring during the game, did not regain his spot and was delisted at the end of 2007. After returning to Glenelg he switched to Sturt and he played his 150th SANFL game in 2014.
