An elite junior athlete in several sports, James Sellar was Adelaide’s first-round selection, pick No. 14 at the 2006 AFL National Draft. The key forward made his AFL debut in Round Seven of the 2008 season but had to wait nearly 18 months for his next appearance as a back-up ruckman.

He played just nine games in the next two seasons and was delisted by the Crows at the end of 2011. Sellar then played for a further two years with Melbourne, for 23 games.
