A mature-age small forward, James Rowe was claimed by the Crows in the 2020 AFL national draft, on the back of two superb SANFL seasons with Woodville-West Torrens. Across 2019-2020, Rowe kicked 82 goals in 34 games at SANFL level. He was joint winner of the 2020 Ken Farmer Medal as the State League’s leading goalkicker and also played in the Eagles’ premiership win.

In the opening round of the 2021 season Jimmy became the first son of a former Crows player (Stephen) to make his AFL debut for the club. He wore No 31, the same number his dad first wore for Adelaide in 1991. James kicked 15 goals in 19 AFL games in his debut season and then made another 17 appearances in 2022.
