Jake Lever was a steal for the Crows with pick No. 14 in the 2014 National Draft. In the three seasons that he had with the Adelaide Football Club, he established himself as one of the AFL’s best young defenders.
As a key intercept marker, with the ability to read the game exceptionally well, he was named in the 40-man, All Australian squad in 2017. (The same year that Adelaide Football Club reached the grand final.) He was also named in the AFL under 22 squad (for the best young AFL players) in all three of his seasons at Adelaide.
Whilst the Victorian earned several Adelaide Football Club accolades and was seen as a key defensive pillar for the next decade, he made a shock trade request following the 2017 season. Lever was then traded to Melbourne after playing 56 games for the Crows.
