Jake Kelly, the son of Collingwood premiership defender and former Norwood player Craig Kelly, joined the Crows through the 2014 rookie draft after he was not nominated by the Magpies as a father-son selection.

The competitive medium defender from the Oakleigh Chargers played in the SANFL side in 2014 and finished as joint runner-up in the State League Club Champion award. Jake then made his AFL debut in 2015 (wearing No 47) and played ten games in his first season. He did not play an AFL game in 2016 but became a regular in 2017 (wearing No 8), playing 24 games including the grand final. Jake reached his 100th AFL game milestone in 2021.

Younger brother Will was selected by Collingwood in 2018 as a father-son pick.

Jake was an unrestricted agent at the end of the 2021 season and, after 110 games for Adelaide, chose to return to Victoria.
