Jack Gunston overcame a serious elbow injury to play six TAC Cup games late in the 2009 season, showing enough promise for Adelaide to draft him with pick No. 29. Lightly built and 193cm, Gunston made his AFL debut the following year, playing two games, before winning the 2010 SANFL premiership with Central District.
In 2011 Gunston continued to develop, booting 20 goals in 12 games as one of the Club’s top prospects. After the season ended, he shocked the Club with a trade request to Hawthorn, where he kicked over 300 goals, been club champion and earned all-Australian selection.
