A competitive ruckman, Ivan Maric was a former basketballer selected in the third round of the 2004 National Draft. In his first SANFL season he showed quick progress and was called up for his debut in 2006. During the 2008 season he took over as the first-choice ruck and over the next two seasons he missed just five games.
When the Crows signed Sam Jacobs, at the same time as the AFL brought in new interchange rules, Maric slipped down the order. He was traded to Richmond ahead of the 2012 season, playing out his career with the Tigers.
