Drafted by Adelaide from East Perth in 1997, Zimbabwe-born Ian Perrie spent 10 seasons with the Crows, making a name for himself as a strong-marking forward. He played just 12 games over his first three seasons, with the 193cm big man taking some time to develop, and recover from shoulder surgery.

It was not until 2003 that Perrie consolidated his spot in a forward line also boasting Wayne Carey and Mark Stevens. A back injury sidelined him through the middle of 2004 but he had his best year in 2005 when he played every game and kicked 39 goals. In 2007 a serious knee injury brought his AFL career to an unfortunate end. Made a AFC Life Member he played out his time in SA with a season at Sturt.
