Greg Anderson made his SANFL debut for Port Adelaide as a 17-year-old in 1983 and played 121 games in five seasons at Alberton. The 1986 Magarey Medallist joined VFL club Essendon after earning All Australian selection representing South Australia in 1987. The tall and powerful wingman played 103 games for the Bombers in five seasons, including the losing 1990 grand final, but chose to join Adelaide for the 1993 season.

He played another 59 games for the Crows, earning All Australian selection in his first year back in his home state. Injuries then limited his AFL opportunities but in his last two years on Adelaide’s list Anderson played in consecutive SANFL premierships with Port Adelaide. He retired after the 1996 win. He coached SANFL club South Adelaide for four years from 2000.In 2005 he was named in the AFC Team of the Decade 1991-2000.
