An All Australian under-18 wingman, David Gallagher showed early promise after being drafted by the Crows with pick No. 32 at the 1998 National Draft. He made his debut as an 18-year-old in Round One of 1999, winning a Rising Star nomination during the season. He was traded to Carlton at the end of 2001 but after seven games for the Blues was delisted. Gallagher went on to have a successful VFL career with Sandringham.
