Drafted by Essendon from North Adelaide, Chris Ladhams spent three years in the system without making his AFL debut. Ladhams returned home after being picked up in the 2001 Pre-season Draft and debut in the opening round that season. A small, talented left-footer with a powerful kick, he played regularly from mid-2002 until the end of 2003, which was his best season with 20 goals from 20 games.
