Bruce Lindsay was first pursued by VFL clubs in the late 1970s, having debuted for West Torrens aged 16, before debuting for SA against Victoria less than a year later. The spectacular midfielder signed with Collingwood but a serious knee injury at the end of 1980 sidelined him for two years. Lindsay stayed with Torrens, captaining the club and SA.

He played at half-back in Adelaide’s first game but only five more appearances followed. Hamstring problems ended his career but he later returned to the Crows as a specialist development coach and team runner. He was inducted into the SA Football Hall of Fame in 2004.
