Brodie Martin, drafted from Sturt, spent nearly two years on the Crows’ rookie list before being upgraded and taken to Melbourne as an emergency in Round 16, 2009. When two teammates fell ill on game day he was called into action, booted a goal with his first kick and played well enough to hold his spot for the Showdown the following week.

However, he hurt his knee during the match and required a reconstruction, keeping him out until late in 2010. Martin struggled to break into the team in the next three years but played 17 games in 2014. After appearing just three times at AFL level in 2015 he was delisted and returned to Sturt.
