Andrew Eccles, an All Australian under-18 in 1996, had a tough first year in the AFL system playing most of his football in the SANFL reserves with Norwood. But he made his AFL debut early in 1998 and played 18 games that year, including the grand final as the Crows’ youngest premiership player at 19. The next year he struggled to beat a hamstring injury, undergoing a knee reconstruction also. After four years with the Crows he was traded to Carlton, where he played 13 games in two seasons. He later he moved to North Ballarat in the VFL.
