Keath was a key-position player at junior level with Murray Bushrangers and Melbourne Grammar before he came close to joining Gold Coast as a 17-year-old priority pick. He chose to pursue cricket, however, enjoying a brief first-class career with Victoria and Melbourne Stars, before he was signed by the Adelaide Strikers in 2015.

That move brought him to SA but with no first-class contract on offer, he looked to SANFL. The 24-year-old joined the Crows as a mature Category B rookie in 2016 and two strong seasons in the SANFL saw him earn his AFL debut at the end of 2017. He impressed during occasional appearances in 2018 and with a rapid rise up the ranks became a key player in 2019. A highlight of the 2019 season was when Keath won the Showdown Medal in the Round Eight match against Port. At the end of the season, Keath requested a trade to the Bulldogs.
