Andrew Jarman was regarded as one of the best SANFL talents when he entered the AFL aged 24. He had already won a Magarey Medal, two club best-and-fairest awards, a premiership and two All Australian selections at North Adelaide.

His AFL debut saw him face his younger brother Darren, who was at the time playing for Hawthorn, and he picked up bragging rights as the Crows started with a bang in their first ever AFL game defeat of the heavily favoured Hawks. He also polled three Brownlow Medal votes. Jarman, conspicuous in his long sleeved guernsey and with his creative style of play was one of Adelaide’s key players over seven seasons.

In 1995 he was runner-up to the Club Champion. He and Darren played one season together for the Crows, before he returned to the SANFL in 1997.

Jarman finished his career on a high with a second premiership and Magarey Medal at Norwood, a decade after claiming his first of each at North Adelaide. He coached North Adelaide from 2004-2008 And then he coached Perth for two seasons in the WAFL. On leaving direct football involvement he became heavily involved in the media industry.

He was made a Life Member of the Adelaide Football Club in 1996 and is a member of the Club’s Team of the Decade 1991-2000
